Founded as the church on the Elizabeth River sometime before 1678, today we are a vibrant church of nearly 2,000 members, sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ in word and deed. First Presbyterian Church of Norfolk is a Christ-centered, Biblically-grounded congregation in the Presbyterian Church (USA).

We affirm the ecumenical creeds of the Church universal, such as the Nicene and Apostle’s Creed as well as the confessions coming out of the Protestant Reformation, such as the Westminister Confession and the Heidelberg Catechism. The Session of First Presbyterian has affirmed the congregation’s confidence in the authority/infallibility of Scripture and in the unique Lordship of Jesus Christ.
