March Picker
Valena Hoy
March Picker joined the Children's Ministry Team at First Presbyterian at the end of August 2007 to serve as Director of R.A.D.I.C.O.L. (K-5) Kids. Returning to work after many years as a full-time wife and mom, March is excited and energized to share her passion for Christ with the children of the church. Since joining in 2001, March has been active in our church's ministries as NEST Coordinator, Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, Soup Kitchen Volunteer and an eager small group participant.

March was raised in beautiful northern California in a large, loving family where she first experienced God's amazing love for her. Her passion for Jesus grew greatly during her college years, as she was active in Campus Crusade for Christ, and served as an intern at their CA headquarters one summer. After graduating from Stanford University in 1983, March worked in public relations and soon married her childhood sweetheart, Jonathan. Thus began their Navy adventure.

Three children and two overseas assignments later, March has held a variety of part-time positions in teaching and sales, but has stayed particularly involved in life-changing volunteer work. The three Picker children, Maddy, Ellen and Luke (20, 18 and 14), offer much light and levity to her days.

When not leading and learning from the children of the church, March is committed to developing healthier habits, including healthy eating and some serious treadmill time. March relishes her relaxation time spent gardening, reading, writing letters to friends around the globe, and listening to great music. She considers herself a transplanted Virginian and a very blessed woman to have raised her family in this fine family of faith.
