Church Family Mission Camp

Join us for a long weekend of service and worship with your FPC Family! This event is a great way to get involved and serve the community as a family.  Kids of all ages welcome.

We will serve the community of Harrisonburg together as a church family. Projects for all ages and skill level will be available. Costs below are all-inclusive and include food and lodging. Travel as a family at your own pace arriving by the afternoon of Thursday, August 8 and checking out after lunch on Sunday, August 11. Register by Sunday, May 26, space is limited!

The first African-American woman ordained in the United Presbyterian Church (USA), Dr. Cannon taught at Union Presbyterian Seminary in Richmond, Virginia. She lectured nationally on theological and ethical topics and was the author or editor of numerous articles and seven books including  Katie’s Canon: Womanism and the Soul of the Black Community and Black Womanist Ethics . Maundy Thursday, also known as Holy Thursday, is the name given to the day on which Jesus celebrated the Passover with His disciples, known as the Last Supper. Our all-church community service project will be held on Saturday, March 24 at Chosen for Completion (site of the former Cradock Presbyterian Church).

Join us for our 6th annual church-wide community service project at Chosen for Completion (former site of Cradock Presbyterian Church). We will be working alongside friend and partner Pastor Nate Griffin and his congregation to paint, organize, decorate and clean their facilities. There will be projects and activities for all ages and skill sets.

NEST at FPC

Get involved this Christmas season with NEST (Norfolk Emergency Shelter Team). Check out these three easy ways for you and your family to serve!

  1. VOLUNTEER WITH NEST - We will serve as an emergency shelter to 100 homeless men and women in our community from December 19-26. Please sign up to help with a shift and serve as a cook, greeter or monitor. 

    Sign up at the table in The Breezeway on Sunday mornings.

  2. SUPPLY TOILETRIES - Help us share Christ’s love with our NEST guests! These

    travel-sized items are needed: men’s deodorant, men’s shaving cream, mouthwash, men’s disposable razors, lip balm, travel pack tissues, washcloths, dental floss, combs. 

    Drop off at the NEST table throughout the holiday season.

  3. COAT & CLOTHING DRIVE - Help support the homeless and keep them warm and dry. Drop off new and gently used coats, men’s clothing and shoes in the bin by NEST sign up table. All sizes needed. 

    Drop off at the table in The Breezeway on Sunday mornings.

Tree of Lives provides medical relief, counseling, education, food, and housing in the fight against AIDS and abandonment in Africa. Our Holy Family Center AIDS clinic in Kenya treats over 5,000 patients. Our orphanage, Joy Children’s Village, is home to 60 previously abandoned and abused African children. It is for these 60 children that the Run for a Kenyan team will participate in the We Promise Foundation 5K.

Organ Concert

Join us for this amazing evening of music! Twenty-eight year-old concert organist Thomas Ospital, Organist at Saint-Eustache Church in Paris, home to the largest pipe organ in France will play at FPC. He is the Organist in Residence at the Radio France Concert Hall, an acoustical gem of a venue that seats over 1,400 people, Professor of Harmony at the Paris Conservatory, and winner of the 2012 and 2014 audience prize at the Chartre Competition. In 2012 he served as Young Artist in Residence at the Cathedral-Basilica of Saint-Louis King of France in New Orleans, Louisiana. Past performances have taken him throughout Europe including the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Greece, Germany, Switzerland, and Holland. Ospital will be in the United States on tour this Fall and will perform a solo organ concert in Norfolk. Free and open to the public.
