Prayer Ministry
By early 2008, we plan to have prayers three times during the workweek and after church on Sundays at the Center for Prayer and Spiritual Growth. What a great opportunity for you to be a part of a new ministry of the church!  If you feel led to be a part of this ministry all you have to do is:

  • Attend an “equipping time” with leaders of the Center for Prayer and Spiritual Growth to prepare you for the ministry. Includes reading “Wounded Healer” by Henri Nouwen – a wonderful quick read!
  • Commit to 30 minutes once a week for leading prayers at the Center from “Book of Common Worship”
  • Commit to be part of team meaning if you cannot lead prayers at your appointed time, you will find a team member who will trade with you!

This is a great opportunity to pray and grow deeper in your walk with Christ in community!

Spiritual Mentoring
We spend our lives learning to follow the Lord, manage our work, lead our families, to do our part in the church and community and to invest in the proceeds! Then the accumulated wisdom dies with us! Our heart for the Lord grows and grows and is challenged daily and we think we are alone in our journey.  Looking back on our lives, we can see how our lives were changed because someone took a little or a lot of time touching us and helping us to see life differently!
It seldom occurs to us that this wisdom is potentially the biggest, most valuable legacy we have to pass along to another. It isn’t too late to invest in someone. If you are interested in sharing your life with another on their own journey – perhaps just a few steps behind you – Spiritual Mentoring – is a great place to start. We will help you get started and we will support you along the way!

Spiritual Companions
Spiritual Companions is a powerful ministry where we gather to listen for the voice of Christ in the Word of God. It is a small group experience to center your life, listen for God, and put First Things First as you discern the call of Christ. We use the method of Lectio Devina, which is Latin for “Devine Reading.” It is a way of listening to God’s Word through the practice of silence, meditation, prayer, and contemplation. After the reading you are part of a small group where you share, pray, and speak of Christ’s message to you through His Word.

Clearness Committee
So many of us struggle with questions and challenges in our Christian walk. We have so many decisions and choices in our culture. How are we to know the path we are called to take? Are you trying to discern God's call in your life? Is Christ calling you to a new ministry? Are you struggling with questions surrounding personal decisions, relating to family, faith or vocation? Or are your questions more public, having to do with witness and ministry?
Whatever your question may be, a Clearness Committee might be a way of discernment for you. A clearness committee is a group of five to six people who have the gift of discernment. As Christians, we have the light of Christ within us and calls us to God's will, yet sometimes that light is hidden. The function of the committee is not to give advice or alter and "fix" people but to help people remove obstacles and discover the divine call that is within them. Rooted in the conviction that each of us has the light of Christ dwelling within us, the clearness committee can help people discover their own God given leadings and callings through silence, through questioning, through listening, and through prayer.

If you have a question where you are seeking discernment and think the clearness committee method might help you, please contact Jane Hubbard.
