Mission Statement
We are a group that seeks to grow in Christ through friendship with one another. We seek to support each other as we grow in our faith. We are a group open to those who want to explore their relationship with Christ. We value our time together in fellowship and friendship. Opportunities include meals together, Bible study & small group, social activities, service programming, worship, and church-wide events.

Overview
The First Presbyterian Church Young Singles Ministry is an active group of young adults ages 23-35. We have a ministry that is as diverse as our group. Below is a list of some of our activities as well as the person currently in charge of that ministry.

Newsletter & eMail List
Our newsletter offers information about activities and recent events. Click here for the current FPC Young Singles newsletter.

Interested in being added to our emailing list???
The young singles has a very active email distribution list. We use this to communicate with each other, plan events, send reminders, and keep the group connected. To be added to this distribution list, please contact Janet Westbrook.

Weekly Study and Fellowship
Join us Tuesday nights from 7:00pm until 9:00pm as we discuss various topics regarding the Christian faith. We meet at 902 Colonial Ave, a house owned by the church and located right next door to the Sanctuary. Newcomers are always welcome as preparation is not required. The discussion is usually followed by fellowship at a local restaurant. Contact Jim Gates for more information.

Young Singles Small Groups
Small groups aim to increase group accountability and intimacy as they strive to deepen their understanding of Christ. Contact Matt Wicks [phone: 618-4776] for more information.

Monthly Potlucks
Generally on the first Tuesday of each month, the young singles gather at 7:00pm for a great and delicious meal potluck style. The occasion is a great way to meet other members as well as learn more about our singles ministry. The location of this event changes each month as we travel to different homes. Myra can give directions and instructions for anyone interested in joining us for this night of fun!
Contact Myra Gobble for more information.

Service Projects
Our group is always actively seeking ways we can help our community and share the love of Christ. We are involved in a variety of service activities. The young singles are committed to every fifth Saturday at the First Presbyterian Soup Kitchen. It is a great service opportunity as well as fun time to learn more about each other as we prepare a wonderful meal for the homeless in our community. The young singles are also involved in the Park Place Child Life Center, as well as other service projects.
Contact Steyn Visagie for more information.

Social Activities
Over the past year we’ve had a Young Singles Christmas party, went on a ski trip in February, enjoyed a barbecue on Memorial Day weekend, camped in the Blue Ridge mountains, had a Fourth of July party/potluck, kayaked the Back Bay of VA, had a potluck dinner each month and usually gone to dinner together after each Tuesday night study. We're a fun group and we're always looking forward to including more people! Join the email list to find out more.
