MISSION STATEMENT: We, the people of First Presbyterian church, know that we are called to be the church wherever God has placed us. We also know that Jesus did not call the world to go to the church, he said for the church to go to the world. Let us be about going to the world both near and far remembering that God does not use us to get missions done–he uses missions to get us done!

The lawyer wanted to know what to do to receive eternal life. “What does the law say?”, asked Jesus, and the lawyer responded, “Love God with everything you have, and love your neighbor as yourself.” That left one question. ”Who is my neighbor?” The lawyer asked Jesus [Luke 10:29]. Jesus responded to this question with the Parable of the Good Samaritan.

FPC people who are led into missions working through our community and world answer this question by helping deliver meals, feeding the hungry locally and globally, ministering to those in jail, building houses for the poor, loving and helping at-risk children locally and internationally, and caring for those who are in need.

Those who help receive as much as they give. FPC members are able to fulfill their calling to feed the stranger [Matt. 25:34- 46], live their faith out with deeds [James 2:14-26] and love their neighbors “with actions and in truth” [1 John 3:18]. There is a sense of joy in serving those in need, a sense of fulfillment in knowing one is walking in the footsteps of the Savior, extending His love and His peace to the world.

We want to be a resource for you and your family to use to locate a place to respond to God’s call in your life. Find your place to serve, and discover your answer to the question, “Who is my neighbor?”
