African Boxes of Love

Below is an excerpt from a letter written by our Parish Visitor Grace Weedman to her grandchildren this past Christmas season:
"Did you know that you are rich? You have a home to live in. You have a bed to sleep in. You have a car to ride in. You have food to eat everyday. You have things to play with, TV to watch, parents (and grandparents) who love you.
This year we have given money in your name to a group of children who don’t have many of those things. Some of them don’t have parents or grandparents. Some of them are sick with a very horrible disease called AIDS. Most of them don’t ever have enough to eat. None of them have a home like your home. Most live in either tents or shacks made of cardboard. Few, if any, have ever been inside a car or slept on a real bed or had a toy that was sold in a store or have ever seen a TV show.
It would be a real gift to us if you would look at the child pictured on this ornament just for a minute everyday and pray that God would bless and take care of him or her, and pray that all the other little children in the world who need His love and care would receive it and would grow up knowing and loving Jesus. "

Each Box of Love ornament placed on our Christmas Trees last December had a picture of an African child who is the poorest of the poor and is part of the Holy Family Center in Kenya. Supported by FPC, the Center serves many precious children who are HIV+. Your gifts provided things like a mattress, a blanket, a backpack, shoes, socks, a jacket and enough food for a family for a month.
