The Norfolk Emergency Shelter Team (NEST) is a ministry to the homeless sponsored by the city of Norfolk and many area churches and synagogues. Each year during the week of Christmas, our congregation serves more than seventy homeless men and women dinner and breakfast and offers them a warm place to sleep in our Fellowship Hall. Opportunities for ministry include serving as dinner cooks, greeters, hosts, a member of the overnight team, or as a part of the early morning clean-up team. To find out more about how to become a part of this important ministry, contact Sheryl Wood (phone: 625-1697).

Park Place Child Life Center
Park Place Child Life Center (PPCLC) is a ministry outreach to the children who live in the Park Place area of Norfolk, Virginia, about two miles from First Presbyterian Church. PPCLC shares the transforming love of Jesus with inner-city children throughout the week when volunteer partners in ministry help with homework, tutoring, and art enrichment classes. Saturday programs offer a broader view of God's world through recreational activities, arts activities, martial arts, bible-based instruction, and nutritional lunches. Relationships are cultivated through these activities that allow for ministry to the spiritual needs of children as they grow up in a challenging world. For more information or to become a partner in this vital outreach, contact Charlotte Moon, PPCLC Director, [phone: 451-2842].
