Prague Mission Team

May 3, 2016

We began the day by meeting in Chris's apartment to debrief the previous day, and we had a fruitful conversation on the ministry that took place yesterday.  A missionary with Youth with a Mission (YWAM) who attends Prague Christian Fellowship was there as well.  Before we left, I learned a college student in Chris's home group who has an internship at Czech Newsweek had talked to his editor about me. The editor wants to interview me for background research on Americans' view of the 2016 election.

We then did a prayer walk led by the YWAM missionary through some tourist areas in Prague and into the red light district where YWAM and two other ministries have a ministry facility named the Bridge.  At the Bridge, we engaged in powerful prayer right outside the doors of the facility for the Christian ministries operating there.  I then returned with Chris and the college student for the Newsweek interview; the others continued touring.

After the Newsweek interview, I joined the others and we toured the Bethlehem Chapel.  We then had dinner and returned to the flat of three American missionaries for a home group meeting.  At the home group meeting, which was very well attended (about 20-25 crammed into their living room), Frank shared biblical insights about how to minister to and encourage individuals after they experience inner healing and/or deliverance.  Many of our team offered additional insights, and many of the attendees had questions. Afterwards, the five of us broke off into three groups, and each group prayed with an attendee of the meeting who sought prayer.

It's Sunday evening and we have just finished a long day of ministry.  We arrived at the meeting location of the Prague Christian Fellowship around 9:30 AM.  The service included extended contemporary worship and my sermon. In my sermon, I discussed the call of the Prague Christian Fellowship congregation to be Christ for their godless society as well as for their own fellow believers.  I also mentioned the need for them to have the Spirit operating in their lives in order to be in a growth pattern of Christlikeness and to be available to the Spirit for Him to use them in ministry.  Following the preaching, they anointed and installed Chris Haynes as the Associate Pastor of the church and celebrated the Lord's Supper.  At the end of the service, people came forward to receive prayer from all five of us.
This afternoon, a woman came to Chris Haynes' home for prayer ministry with Chris and me.  She had some demonic involvement and some of her demons were cast out.  We are going to meet with her again on Tuesday afternoon.  This evening, I was asked to speak for a couple of hours on the topic of spiritual warfare.
All in all, it has been a very productive and tiring day.  Thank you for your prayers.  Terry has done much better today with his knee problem.  You are strengthening us by your intercession.  God bless!!

We have now finished our 24-hour retreat with Chris Haynes' church, the Prague Christian Fellowship.  It was a powerful time of teaching and prayer ministry.  We had about 50 people in attendance, who represented numerous nations.  In our teaching, Kristine Rand and I focused on recognizing the influence of our family and national background in forming our presuppositions as to whether God exists, whether He can communicate with us, and whether we can know Him personally.  Then we taught on spiritual gifts and on how we can cooperate with the Holy Spirit in ministry.  After the fourth teaching session, we had a time of prayer outside.  Then, we went down to the river, and the Prague Christian Fellowship pastor, John Mullen, baptized four people in the Moldau River.  One was British, one was Filipino, one was Indian, and the fourth was from Kyrgyzstan -- two men and two women.
Our team is doing well.  We had minimal problems with jet lag, and are doing a lot more walking than we planned to.  Terry's knee has been a problem, especially climbing up and down the stairs to and from the fourth-floor walk-up "flat" where we three men are staying while in Prague.  Please pray for healing for him.  Tomorrow, we will all have a role in the worship service.  I will be preaching, Susan and Natt will be performing worship songs, and Kristine and Terry will be doing prayer ministry.

We all arrived safely today at about 2:00 AM Prague time. Chris Haynes met us at the airport along with the four American missionaries who are hosting us.  Three are hosting Frank, Terry, and me; and two (one of whom was at the airport) are hosting Kristine and Susan.  Our hosts have all been so gracious.
We spent an hour or so in their respective apartments; then we traveled to Chris's apartment for dinner.  At dinner, we were able to interact more with the missionaries and with a few Czech believers.  After dinner, Kristine and I stayed at Chris's apartment and led a small group of Czech believers in their 20s on a teaching about the Holy Spirit.  Frank, Susan, and Terry traveled to another home group of young internationals; that group asked each of them to share their testimony.
We have already seen the Spirit move in amazing ways during our time and we look forward to all that God has in store for us here.
